Human Resources Manager

FLSA Status: Full-time, exempt
Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000
Reports to: Operations Director
Location: Basalt, Colorado

Job Summary:

The human resources (HR) manager serves as an integral part of leading Aspen Hope Center’s growth and culture. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in HR, a comprehensive understanding of HR policies and procedures, the ability to handle the ever-changing nature of the workforce and a knack for connecting with others to ensure various needs relating to human capital are appropriately managed. This individual will collaborate with the agency’s executive team on a regular basis to ensure cohesive communications and connectivity about all things related to human resources. This job requires a versatile professional who is comfortable operating at the tactical level.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Helps to refine and execute employee standards and procedures, utilizing and improving upon existing HR systems and processes

  • Maintains, administers and enhance employee benefits programs, including but not limited to, compensation, health insurance, expenses, paid time off and employee assistance

  • Collaborates with leadership team around employee recruitment to define requirements; use a multi-channel approach to attract candidates; facilitate candidate interviews, evaluation, and selection; and complete offer packages and background checks

  • Utilizes internal and external resources to ensure compliance around federal and state labor laws and regulations, both current and those that are planned for implementation

  • Obtains proper paperwork and maintain organized personnel files and strict adherence to confidentiality

  • Maintains and updates all agency documents related to staff; including but not limited to employee handbook, new hire checklists, exit checklists and exit interviews; and communicate details and updates to employees

  • Promotes and fosters a safe work environment; and process workers’ compensation claims if needed 

  • Collaborates with department supervisors to create appropriate orientations to prepare staff for work responsibilities/assignments

  • Implements training sessions that support employee growth and development while staying relevant with industry trends and requirements, including department specific staff trainings

  • Completes reference and employment verification for former employees

  • Collaborates and facilitate meetings as needed with outside contractors including, but not limited to, payroll, retirement and benefits administrators, etc. and communicate policies, updates, etc. to staff

  • Supports departments in the development and delivery of strategic HR plans to fit with the overall agency direction and philosophy

  • Assists in the resolution of conflict and employee grievances; and provides support to directors and supervisors when disciplinary action is required.

  • Partners with department leaders to champion the onboarding process, ensuring the agency’s operations are up-to-date with a successful new employee experience

  • Serves as the main point of contact for any day-to-day questions regarding human resources (e.g., payroll, benefits inquiries, time off inquiries, updating documents, etc.)

  • Cultivates and maintains employee relations and support a positive workplace culture, always taking into consideration the agency’s mission, values and service provision; and ensuring that employees feel a sense of belonging


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in HR positions of high-level responsibility

  • Experience with internal communications and culture-building

  • Experience advancing employment equity through policy and coaching

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized by nature

  • Strong data skills, leveraging the power of data to inform decisions about hiring and retention

  • Exceptional written communication and and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain communication with administrative, clinical and school-based staff on a regular basis 

  • Understanding of federal and state HR laws

  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism

  • Act as a trusted confidant within the executive team

  • Commitment to upholding confidentiality and discretion at all times, and adhering to the minimum necessary rule whenever data is shared

  • Adeptness in navigating and problem-solving to address employee needs as they arise

  • Extensive knowledge and proven ability to uphold agency policies and systems

  • Familiarity with HR software and working knowledge of Google Suite

  • Ability to be nimble and versatile in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment

  • Ability to uphold and represent the values and philosophy of the agency


Credentials and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as Human Resources or Business Management 

  • Minimum of three years of human resources experience 

  • Certification in PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP preferred
