The Aspen Hope Center has announced Erin Mitchell as its new executive director, following a comprehensive search and review by the hiring committee, AHC announced on Wednesday.

Mitchell, who has served as the center’s clinical director since November 2023, will assume her new role on June 3. She has demonstrated extensive knowledge in the agency’s key areas — crisis response, school programs, therapy, and education/outreach — during her six months as clinical director.

Her work has earned her the trust of staff, community partners, and first responders, a news release states. With 14 years of experience in high-risk environments such as classrooms, emergency rooms, and ski mountains, she is well-equipped to lead the organization.

“A mentor of mine once said, ‘It is an honor and privilege to take care of others,’ and I wholeheartedly agree,” she said in the release. “I am excited to lead the agency and continue providing hope to our community.”

Aspen Hope Center Board President Sandy Iglehart praised Mitchell’s appointment, citing her extensive experience and commitment to the center’s mission as key reasons for her selection.

Founded in 2010, the Aspen Hope Center is Colorado’s only freestanding crisis agency and one of only three in the country. The non-profit serves communities from Aspen to Parachute, offering crisis response, school programming, education and outreach, therapy, and consulting services.
